The World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and IMF co-organized a virtual Global Parliamentary Forum on the occasion of the Annual Meetings, on 12 - 15 October 2020. Mr. Miltiadis Makrygiannis, PABSEC Deputy Secretary General attended the 4-day virtual event.
Mr. Daniel Dulca, PABSEC Deputy Secretary General, attended the online webinar entitled “Measuring the Impacts of COVID-19 on Education: A New Tool for Governments and Researchers”, organized by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), under the motto, Better Policies for Better Lives, on 15 October 2020.
In the framework of the 18th European Week of Regions and Cities an online workshop titled “Cultural and Creative Regional Ecosystems (CCRE-S3)” was organized on 14 October 2020. Mr. Miltiadis Makrygiannis, PABSEC Deputy Secretary General attended this virtual event.
The 56th Meeting of the PABSEC Legal and Political Affairs Committee on was held online on 8 October 2020 with the technical support of the PABSEC International Secretariat. National delegations from Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine took part in the Meeting. The Meeting was chaired by Mr. Mikhail Emelianov, Chairman of the Committee (Russia).
The 55th Meeting of the PABSEC Cultural, Educational and Social Affairs Committee was held online on 7 October 2020 with the technical support of the PABSEC International Secretariat. The Meeting was attended by the national delegations from Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Romania, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Metin Gundogdu, Chairman of the Committee (Turkey).
The 55th Meeting of the PABSEC Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Affairs Committee on was held online on 7 October 2020 with the technical support of the PABSEC International Secretariat. National delegations from Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine took part in the Meeting. The Meeting was chaired by Mr. Constantin-Catalin Zamfira, Chairman of the Committee (Romania).
On 29 September 2020, the PABSEC Deputy Secretary General Mr. Miltiadis Makrygiannis attended a webinar on Sustainable and Resilient Finance, titled “Leveraging ESG (environmental, social and governance) practices for Long-term value”, organized by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

On 15-16 September 2020, the International Conference on “Social Cohesion in the Black Sea Region” was organized online in which the PABSEC was represented by Ms. Roberta Alma Anastase, Head of the PABSEC Romanian Delegation, Mr. Istvan Antal, member of the PABSEC Romanian Delegation and Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General.
On 15 September 2020, the PABSEC Deputy Secretary General Mr. Miltiadis Makrygiannis attended an informal virtual interactive panel debate for International Day of Democracy, titled “COVID-19 and democracy: Can parliaments come to the rescue?”. The event was organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in partnership with the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory at Arizona State University.
