Visit of Mr. Mehmet Uylukcu, Secretary General of the Union of Road Transport Associations of the BSEC Member States (BSEC-URTA), to the PABSEC International Secretariat, Istanbul, 21 September 2026
On 21 September 2026, Mr. Mehmet Uylukcu, Secretary General of the Union of Road Transport Associations of the BSEC Member States (BSEC-URTA), visited the PABSEC International Secretariat in Istanbul and met with Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General.
During the meeting, Mr. Uylukcu informed the PABSEC Secretary General about the current activities of BSEC-URTA and recent developments concerning the Middle Corridor. He also drew attention to the difficulties faced by professional truck drivers in obtaining visas for Schengen countries and expressed the hope that PABSEC could support efforts aimed at facilitating solutions to this issue.
Mr. Hajiyev thanked the guest for the visit and underlined the importance of efficient transport links and unhindered movement for strengthening trade and economic cooperation in the Region. Referring to the visa-related difficulties faced by professional drivers, he expressed PABSEC’s readiness to support efforts aimed at addressing such practical obstacles through dialogue and cooperation among the relevant stakeholders.
The PABSEC Secretary General also informed Mr. Uylukcu about the preparations for the 68th PABSEC General Assembly, to be held in Athens on 23–25 November 2026 within the framework of the PABSEC Hellenic Presidency, and invited him to participate in the event.
Ms. Valentina Cobzareanu, PABSEC Deputy Secretary General, also took part in the meeting.
