The PABSEC Delegation participated in the 13th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, Belgrade, Serbia, 21-22 February 2019
The PABSEC Delegation composed of Mr. Igor Becic, the Head of the Serbian PABSEC delegation and Mr. Miltiadis Makrygiannis, the PABSEC Deputy Secretary General, participated in the 13th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) in Belgrade, Serbia, on 21-22 February 2019.
The official opening was addressed by Mr. Veroljub Arsić, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia followed by Mr. Ivica Dacic, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the PAM President, Mr. Pedro Roque (Portugal).
The message from the United Nations Secretary General, Mr. Antonio Guterres was presented. Also took place the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between PAM and the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (IAO).
During the Plenary Session the PAM parliamentarians reviewed the reports and adopt the resolutions on the priority issues for the Euro-Mediterranean area, among which, political and security developments in the MENA Region, the new threats of terrorism, economic cooperation and trade facilitation, climate change, the Global Compact for Migration and the promotion of Human Rights.
Mr. Becic took the floor during the debate of the PAM 2nd Standing Committee on Economic, Social and Environmental Cooperation, concerning the climate change and the role of parliamentarians, noting the activities of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in that sphere.
