Participation of the PABSEC International Secretariat to the online workshop “Entrepreneurship towards Industry 4.0”, 31 March 2021
Mr. Miltiadis Makrygiannis, PABSEC Deputy Secretary General, attended the online workshop “Entrepreneurship towards Industry 4.0”, which was organized, in the framework of the European Industry Week 2021, by the Region of Western Greece, on 31 March 2021.
Over the past years, the European Commission has organized EU Industry Days as an opportunity for stakeholders and citizens from all over Europe to establish a strong dialogue on the future of European industry. This year the EU Industry Days focuses on the accelerated twin green and digital transition, and the changing global competitive landscape in the post-COVID context. Against this background, it will provide important input for the update of the EU industrial strategy announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The online workshop consisted of the following sessions: Session 1: Extroversion of Greek Industry; and Session 2: International Industry Trends for Industry 4.0
The workshop was attended by representatives of unions, associations and organizations and representatives of industry, entrepreneurship, innovation, etc.
The interventions of the experts and the discussion that followed, focused mainly on the transition to Industry 4.0, on how this transition will be achieved and what are the design principles, results and challenges. As the speakers explained, Industry 4.0 is the current trend of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies. It includes cyber-physical systems, the Internet of things and cloud computing. Moreover, the participants underlined the need for synergies and discussed proposals for action and implementation, development of regional policies and innovation strategies.
