Participation of PABSEC Delegation in the 29th Eurasian Economic Summit, Istanbul, 12 May 2026
On 11 May 2026, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, Mr. Akhtem Chyihoz, memebr of the PABSEC Ukrainian Delegation and Mr. Petar Kanev, former PABSEC Vice-President, participated in the 29th Eurasian Economic Summit organized in Istanbul by the Marmara Group Foundation.
Messages to the participants of the Summit were delivered on behalf of H.E. Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as on behalf of Nobel Laureate Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar.
The two-day Summit brought together high-level government representatives, former heads of state, ministers, parliamentarians, representatives of international organizations, members of the diplomatic corps, academics, business leaders and prominent public figures from numerous countries. The annual forum once again served as an important platform for dialogue and cooperation at a time of growing geopolitical and economic challenges.
This year`s summit is dedicated on a broad range of global and regional issues of common concern, including “Energy and Economy in the Post-War World alongside War, Terror, Conflict and Forced Migration”, “Living on a Planet Where Water and Green are Depleting”, “Democracy, Women and the Future of Peace”, and “Women’s Rights in a World Where Power Rewrites Law.”
Addressing the participants of the Summit, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev underlined the importance of strengthening dialogue, multilateral cooperation and parliamentary diplomacy in addressing the complex challenges facing the wider Black Sea region and the international community. He emphasized the importance of preserving peace, stability and sustainable development through constructive interaction and mutual respect among states, stressing that such platforms as parliamentary assemblies, the Eurasian Economic Summit and other international forums can serve as effective platforms for discussing pressing issues.
