Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, participated in the CPMR Joint Energy & Transport Seminar on Electrification, held on 22–23 April 2026 in Lahti, Finland.
The Seminar brought together policymakers, regional stakeholders, and experts in the fields of transport and energy to exchange views on the transition towards electrification.
The opening session was addressed by Mr. Sami Salminen, Vice-Chair of the Päijät-Häme Regional Assembly and Chair of the CPMR Energy Working Group.
In his intervention, Mr. Hajiyev presented the activities of PABSEC, and highlighted key challenges faced by the Black Sea region, particularly in the energy sector. Mr. Hajiyev also underlined the importance of accelerating the development of alternative energy sources. In this context, he noted that ongoing geopolitical developments, including the situation in Iran, lead to an increase in oil prices and pose risks to global economic stability. Mr. Hajiyev called for enhanced cooperation and coordinated efforts among countries to advance sustainable, secure and resilient energy solutions.
