Participation of Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General in the 35th Economic Forum, 8-10 September 2026, Karpacz, Polland

On 8–10 September 2026, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, participated in the 35th Economic Forum, entitled “Architecture of the New Order – Stability in Times of Change”, which took place in Karpacz, Poland. The Forum was organised by the Foundation Institute for Eastern Studies.

The event gathered more than 5,000 participants, including government officials and representatives of international organisations, academia and the media. Its programme featured a wide range of thematic panels devoted to artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, the economy, international politics and security, and sustainable development.

The PABSEC Secretary General was a key speaker at the panel entitled “Iran and the New Balance of Power in the Middle East: An Endless War?”. In his remarks, Mr. Hajiyev underlined that three BSEC States have borders with Iran and this war has a negative impact not only on the Black Sea Region, but also on the world economy as well. In the near future, it is necessary to find a diplomatic solution and establish stable peace in the Region.

On the margins of the event, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev held a meeting with Mr. Ryszard Czarnecki, former Vice-President of the European Parliament, during which they discussed forthcoming PABSEC activities and cooperation between PABSEC and European institutions.

The Economic Forum in Karpacz is one of the leading platforms in Central and Eastern Europe for discussing security, prospects for economic development, contemporary challenges and ways of overcoming crises, as well as for presenting concrete solutions and innovative ideas.
