PABSEC Participation in the 5th Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, 16 April 2026, Istanbul
On 16 April 2026, Mr. Borys Kolisnychenko, Deputy Secretary General of PABSEC, participated in the 5th Conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, held in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye.
The Conference was chaired by H.E. Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chairperson of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement.
The event brought together approximately 130 participants from 50 countries, including 13 Speakers of Parliament, 8 Deputy Speakers, as well as representatives of international parliamentary and intergovernmental organizations.
The discussions were held under the theme “The Role of Parliaments in Ensuring Climate-Resilient Urbanization in the NAM Area.”
Participants exchanged views on the increasing role of parliaments in promoting sustainable urban development, advancing climate adaptation policies, strengthening resilient infrastructure, enhancing environmental protection, providing legislative support for sustainable cities, and reinforcing international parliamentary cooperation in addressing global challenges.
Participants of the Conference also adopted the Istanbul Declaration and took a decision to establish the Headquarters of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement in Baku.
