PABSEC Participation in the 14th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic States, Astana, Kazakhstan, 11–12 June 2025

On 11-12 June 2025 Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General participated in the 14th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic States (TURKPA), which was held in Astana, Kazakhstan, upon the invitation of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. 

The Plenary Session brought together parliamentary delegations from member and observer states, as well as representatives of Turkic cooperation bodies and international organizations. The theme of the session was “TURKTIME: The Role of Parliamentary Diplomacy.”

Within the framework of the Plenary Session, additional meetings were held, including the Meeting of the Council of Assembly, the 4th Meeting of the Women Parliamentarians Group, the 4th Meeting of the Young Parliamentarians Group, and the Meeting of the Secretaries General of the TURKPA Member Parliaments. Mr. Ramil Hasan (Azerbaijan) was unanimously elected as the new Secretary General of the TURKPA.

In his address to the participants, PABSEC Secretary General Mr. Hajiyev highlighted the challenges facing the Black Sea region, including conflicts and refugee issues. He stressed the necessity of uniting efforts to resolve these problems, which adversely affect the development of the region. He emphasized the vital role of parliamentary diplomacy and parliamentary assemblies in strengthening peace, cooperation, and reconciliation — the core slogan of PABSEC.

At the conclusion of the 14th Plenary Session, the Astana Declaration was adopted. The next TURKPA Plenary Session is planned to be held in Kyrgyzstan in 2026.
