The PABSEC Participation in the 45th Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the BSEC Member States, 21 December 2022
Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, and Mr. Miltiadis Makrygiannis, Deputy Secretary General, participated in the 45th Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the BSEC Member States, which was held online on 21 December 2022.
The Meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Bulgaria, Georgia, the Hellenic Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Republic of North Macedonia, Romania, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Serbia, the Republic of Turkey, Ukraine, as well as representatives of BSEC Related Bodies, observers, sectoral dialogue partners and guests.
Mr. Nicu Popescu, BSEC Chairman-in-Office, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, and Ambassador Lazar Comanescu, Secretary General of the BSEC PERMIS addressed the opening.
During the Meeting, the ministers exchanged views on various aspects of the activities of the Organization and cooperation in the BSEC region. The Council took note of the reports on the meetings of the BSEC Committee of Senior Officials, discussed and adopted draft resolutions, decisions and recommendations that were presented by the Committee of Senior Officials.
In his speech, the PABSEC Secretary General informed the participants of the meeting about the outcome of the 60th PABSEC General Assembly, which took place on 6-8 December 2022 in Belgrade under the PABSEC Serbian Presidency, and about the activities of the PABSEC committees in the first half of 2023. Mr. Hajiyev also informed the participants that 2023 is an anniversary year for the PABSEC and that a number of events are planned under the PABSEC Turkish Presidency.
The BSEC Chairmanship-in-Office has passed from the Republic of Moldova to the Republic of Serbia, whose term of office begins on 1 January 2023.
