53rd Meeting of the PABSEC Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Affairs Committee, Giresun, 18-19 September 2019
The 53rd Meeting of the PABSEC Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Affairs Committee was held in Giresun on 18-19 September 2019 upon the invitation of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
At the opening of the Meeting, the participants were welcomed by Mr. Cemal Ozturk, Head of the PABSEC Turkish delegation, Mr. Harun Sarifakioğullari, Governor of the Giresun City, Mr. Yunus Kiliç, Chairman of the GNAT Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Affairs, Mr. Aytekin Şenlikoğlu, Mayor of the Giresun City Mr. George-Gabriel Visan, Vice-Chairman of the PABSEC Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Affairs Committee and Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC General Secretary.
The national delegations of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey took part in the Meeting. Mr. George-Gabriel Visan, Vice-Chairman of the Committee (Romania) chaired the Meeting. The Committee discussed and adopted the draft Report and draft Recommendation on “Conclusion of Preferential Trade Agreements with a view to Eliminate Double Taxation between the BSEC Member States”.
At the Meeting, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railroad was presented, which started functioning on 30 October 2017.
The Committee also took note of the information on the current activities of the BSEC Organization, presented by Mr. Sergey Goncharenko, Deputy Secretary General of the BSEC Permanent International Secretariat.
The next 54th Meeting of the Committee will be held in Albania 10-11 March 2020. The main issue will be “Development of Financial Technologies in the BSEC Member States”. The Rapporteur on the Report will be Mrs. Sofia Voultepsi, member of the PABSEC Hellenic Delegation.
